Nab Booze on Liner and Hunt for Crooked City Detective
Dry squad officers seized bootlegger whisky and arrested George Bishop who just arrived from San Francisco when the ship President docked at Pier D late Monday night. Bishop’s baggage held a trunk and suitcase full of half gallon tins, as officers Ford and McLean made the arrests. Prosecutor Lundin announced immediate prosecution of a claim that a plainclothes detective sold liquor confiscated by Sheriff Hodge and destroyed. Barkwill filed a $179 claim to recover liquor seized in July. Investigators for Lundin arrested two drug store proprietors on charges of selling liquor to Jim Miller last week while Lundin traced the transaction and Sheriff Campbell said he personally destroyed the liquor consigned to Renton.
