Reports from Tokyo describe a daylong, indecisive battle south of Mukden. Japanese and Russian forces clashed along the Taitze river and around Bensihu, Ta pass, and Sanchiateu with heavy artillery and multiple divisions engaged. The Japanese aim was to press the assault through night into the following day as forces gird for pressure near Liao Yang.
