She traces nine generations to Pocahontas and claims royal blood in her veins from the famed Powhatan figure who aided Captain John Smith and wed John Rolfe at Jamestown.
County commissioners trimmed the charity budget by 2,665 from 1915 level, raising Cal laghan's salary to 2,100 with an automobile purchase of 1,135 while denying a 1,500 secretary and two winter workers. Dry goods and groceries were reduced to 35,000, rent to 2,500, and transport to 3,000. County Physician Lyons earned 1,800. two orderlies were declined.
An order of the public service commission lowers Seattle gas charges to 25 cents per month. Seattle Lighting Co had charged 50 cents and, after agreeing to 25 cents, did not comply, prompting a re petition. The order takes effect October 26.
Patrolman J. J. Riley exchanged gunfire with two suspects at 2 30 am in the lower town. A gun was found on one man as they fled past the Astor hotel on Maynard and Washington streets. Riley fired back and pursued before losing the pair in darkness. Nick Karis was arrested then released after Riley could not identify him. Police suspect the two may be the same who shot Officer Ed Hagen near the Madrone park car line.
Police and detectives launched a state-wide search for 10 year old Theo dore Heddington who vanished after leaving home at 162744 Terry ave to attend Sunday school. His mother is alarmed by his disappearance and a distinguishing scar on his nose is noted.

By agreement of both parties the $30,000 libel suit brought by Attorney Will H. Thompson against the Times was dismissed in superior court. Thompson said Thursday the compromise was entirely satisfactory to him. The suit echoed similar claims that led R. H. Thomson, former city engineer, to a $15,000 judgment against the newspaper recently.
