Extra edition reports the dam at the Fremont government canal broke this morning. Water flooded through washing away piles and a temporary bridge, blocking the main access for Green Lake and Fremont residents. Government engineers rushed to the scene with sandbags as streetcar traffic is partially rerouted across the bridge.
A wall of water eight feet high swept down the canal after a temporary dam failed. The canal bridge near Fremont Ballard was washed out, threatening access to districts and forcing rerouted traffic via Bal ter. Officials estimate 1.6 people affected as they assess damage and seek containment. The temporary dam had been in danger before and engineers plan measures to confine damage.
A series of light lectures on marketing will be held Wednesday afternoon at the cooking school. A butcher will attend to cut meat while Mrs. Miller identifies cuts and explains proper cooking and suitable vegetables. Each lecture will feature one of Mrs. Miller's demonstrations.

Patrolman McClerg and Keefe arrested A. and Jones, a 40s carpenter, on suspicion of murder six miles south of Los Angeles. Jones denies nationwide warrants, admits past Los Angeles residence, and says he told a story of a murder to associates. Los Angeles authorities notified. transfer expected tonight or tomorrow.
Mrs Beviah A Gronived resigned as secretary at the Beattie Humane Society monthly meeting due to health. John Dow elected secretary pro tem and Mrs Gronlund named honorary secretary. Humane Officer Clark reported attending to eleven cases of cruelty during the month.
