A fire in Bishop O Dea's Cherry and Ninth Street home damaged the upper floor and furnace flue. Father Murphy and staff tried to save birthe and death records, but the blaze destroyed private bishop records and many paintings with no injuries reported.
A north side Artington pier spot near Beattie is said to be where President Roosevelt stood when visiting Seattle. A notch cut into the pier guard plank marks the site, though some doubt it is exact. Waterfront lore preserves the belief as visitors gaze in awe.
At Peoria Illinois the Monarch factory boiler exploded killing five men outright and fatally injuring two others who died at a hospital. Several workers remain missing as rescuers search the ruined plant. cause of the blast is unknown.

Joule Ward of Whatcom was robbed and struck in the head in the railroad yards near Jackson Street Seattle this morning about 1 00. He met a man who offered to guide him to a train and was attacked near a box car. Ward, found groaning, told Patrolman Damm he would identify the assailant if he ever saw him again.
Deland deniew hav ing acted in a disorderly manner. No charge placed. M. E. Delen watchman for the Chappelle properties on King Street arrested for disorderly conduct by Patrolman Chic Ballivan yesterday. A "Dilly" was found in his pocket during search by the police department.
