Riverton R. Chapman son of E R Chapman a wealthy New York lawyer and banker leapt from the Carlton hotel third floor to the vestibule below. His skull was crushed and he died about twenty minutes later. The 23 year old Oxford student had arrived with his valet on Saturday on a Cunard liner and had toured England by auto in summer. He was thought temporarily insane.
