Six Port Blakely girls from a mill town travel by the Barah M. Renton steamer to Seattle five days a week at reduced fares. They have left the Port Blakeley one room schoolhouse to pursue higher education in Seattle high school and a business college this fall.
Principal Edwin Twitmyer asks Seattle high school parents to require at least two hours of daily home study for their children in addition to school hours. The professor notes that social indulgences may cause failures while consistent study leads to success.
