Butterfield of 224 Day St Mallard attended a saloon meeting with a chance acquaintance on Saturday night. They rented a room for an affair and later police were asked to help locate the thief involved in the incident.
James Brady who shot Flora Shannon and then attempted suicide four weeks ago will likely not recover. Dr W H Corson, in charge at the county hospital, announced Brady would die. An operation on Brady’s skull last Saturday trepanned the bone was fractured and a brain abscess formed. Much brain matter was destroyed and recovery is very improbable.
James Rogers, a professional tramp, was arrested on suspicion of connection with the Dona Gilman murder. Witnesses say Beastie, Dona's sister, told their mother the body was brought home, while the family physician notes Hleasie suffers hysteria.

A B C Denniston said he would start tomorrow with grappling hooks to recover the Dix wreck. Six large hooks are being made and two tugs with 1000 feet of cable will assist. The aim is to dislodge the house and release bodies trapped in the cabins, though raising the hull is unlikely.

In Salem Oregon Patrol man Wussick shot and fatally wounded Frank Dick a German mason who refused to halt when ordered and reportedly did not understand English.
