In Chicago during tense streetcar strike negotiations, police struggle with lawless elements as Private Detective Capper guarding trolley wires is beaten into unconsciousness and Detective Connelly suffers the same fate. Wires are cut and poles broken as authorities deploy extra guards to operate the cave.
Councilman Gill urged withholding new franchises until existing grants are used. The Seattle Electric Company began East Union street construction, laying five blocks in three days and aiming to finish to Twenty third Avenue within ten days. The line extends from East Union to Pike, with deadlines set for December and further extension to Twenty eighth Avenue.
New York reports Psi Upsilon fraternity founded at Union College in 1833 plans a reception and banner celebration at the Waldorf Astoria tonight. Members come from many states. only Col Edward Martindale of San Diego survives among the original founders, a Union College graduate of 1836.
The Building Trades Assembly in Seattle held a Sunday night meeting in the Armory to discuss public access for future similar gatherings. About 1 006 union men attended as A B White of the carpenters urged card system enforcement and union solidarity. Speakers included Frank Rust, Frank Lowe, G K Taylor, and W A Finch, with whistling solos by A W Prince concluding the program.
George Williams aged years and 16 year old Kate Stewart were arrested by Detectives Hubbard and Freeman after being found in a lodging room on Seventh avenue and Yealer Way. The girl’s father sought help and the pair were taken to custody for further criminal inquiry. Williams claimed Kate was not present when questioned. The father appeared and cried upon seeing his daughter at the station. Williams said Kate had accompanied him to Tacoma three weeks earlier.
Pete Meister and Camille Cooper were arraigned before Judge Cannyes on charges of attempting to lure Julian Herman a Sunset telephone operator into a life of shame. A physician's certificate said Herman was too ill to attend trial and would require absolute quiet. The defense sought a continuance citing inability to post five bonds each. Bonds were reduced to 97 percent and the couple returned to trial. the case was continued.
William J. Ducett is at large as Roy and Roy pursue arrest warrants for fraud and obtaining money on fraudulent bills of lading for two car loads of shingles. Authorities have not yet secured information on his whereabouts.
Ernest Chattertin a clothing store clerk was arrested yesterday morning on a warrant from Judge Cann charging assault and battery on Mise May Boyd. He faced a December 1 appearance with bonds set at one dollar. Miss Boyd claimed he took her ring and after heated words he struck her.
Norman N. Town, a recent Seattle arrival, uncovered a cache of 154 counterfeit dollars on Queen Anne Hill. Captain Bell of the U S Secret Service took custody of the coins, which date to 1916 16 and 16% and weigh correctly. Bell suspects the maker was arrested or fled years ago and says many coins could have passed as genuine.
Mrs. Carr Cook and Miss Eleanor Robson, mother and daughter, appear in Chicago as rival stars in separate plays. Cook debuts this year in Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabage Patch while Robson begins in Merely Mary Teas. Each has shown strong character work and rising stage prominence with prior association to Amelia Bingham's Climbers and Art.
Montana labor leaders Dan McDonald M T Demperey Ed Long J W Gilbert Frank Doyle and Malcolm Gillis arrived in Washington and will attend a luncheon with President Roosevelt tomorrow. They had previously taken part in a reception for the president during his western tour in Montana.

Bremerton promoters plan a boxing card with Sullivan of San Francisco vs Daly of Detroit in a 20 round main event. Navy welterweight champion Harria faces Billy Weston in a 10 round bout. A ten round tilt pits Kid Blutch of New York against Kid Lewis of Beattie among preliminaries.
In San Francisco, November 4, Young Corbett and Eddie Manion signed for a championship fight next month. Manion is seen by some as having a strong chance to win the belt. Corbett has shed much weight recently, risking weakness at the weigh in. Hanson is a youthful, well conditioned contender known for temperance and steady discipline.
Tod Sloan, famed jockey, sues the Jockey Club of Paris alleging damages from a track incident. The case questions whether turf control rests with the club or with law and due process.
At Seattle high school the football team prepares for a Thanksgiving game against Spokane high school. Spokane arrives tomorrow night and the kickoff is set for Thanksgiving morning at Li edeck. Bruce Shorts has sharpened the squad into one of Beattie field's most capable outfits.
In San Francisco on November 23, the United States plans to open Korea to world commerce. Minister Horace N Allen, the American representative in Korea, will be pressed aboard a battleship to Wiju where the port will be opened.
In Tacoma Puget Sound University claims the Pacific coast football title after a 10 to 6 win over Nevada. They argue Washington refused a game and Nevada’s region title strengthens their claim. Nevada players Breckle and Knox were injured, with Rader and Williams scoring for Puget Sound.
Has ping pong fallen from favor after a nationwide craze two years ago. The indoor game once crowded homes with miniature courts and daily play for all ages, but overexposure dulled its appeal and it may not regain its former popularity as winter returns.

A large crowd of Emerald Isle natives and descendants gathered at the Madison theater to honor the memory of the Manchester martyrs Allen Larkin and O'Brien who were executed on November 2 1867 for treason. The program featured a musical entertainment and an address by Mr Murphy.
David Topping was last seen Friday after leaving his Colonnade hotel room for a brief period. Mrs. Topping notified police when he did not return by Saturday, and officials fear he may have wandered off during a spell of temporary confusion.
