Tragedy on the Dix Sail Vessel Blames Carelessness

Testimony in a Seattle sound tragedy links carelessness and poor discipline to the Dix disaster. Captain Mason of the Jeanie testified the Dix struck the Jeanie at 7 20 pm near Alki Point, with two rescue boats saving 37 aboard. Indictments Reported and No True Bills By Federal Jury

The federal grand jury reported two indictments and three no true bills. James A. Bunce, former deputy under Sheriff Cudihee, charged with smuggling, held on bond. C. B Parham, arrested in San Francisco for Puget Sound smuggling, brought to Seattle and indicted with plea due tomorrow. Dr J D Sherrick pleaded guilty to libelous mail matter and was fined.
