W. J. Daly, a Seattle bartender, fired four shots at Florence Robinson in San Francisco after a quarrel over a telephone request. Miss Robinson, ten feet away, was unharmed and found swooning on the hotel steps as Daly fled to avoid arrest.
The mayor issued a general warning to all manufacturing plants including laundries to halt water use this afternoon. He stressed that every drop must be conserved for domestic use as the city faces a water shortage.
A Cedar River bridge carrying Seattle water mains collapsed after a river change. Four engineers and 150 workers race to repair, with Milwaukee railroad blamed for initial damage. Water supply dwindles citywide. some districts rely on old pumps and limited power.
Major Hodagorn with four U S troops raided a Laredo house and captured Captain Juan Merigo and two privates. They seized fifty dynamite bombs twenty thousand rounds of ammunition and forty rifles. Twelve revolutionists escaped as soldiers held fire to avoid citizen injuries.

Patterson plans to testify, claiming she was forced into marriage, coerced by Emil Strauss, and sold for money before killing her tubercular husband during a quarrel.
