Des Moines police rounded up three alleged radicals in a plot to kill Mayor Tom Fairweather. The arrestees were Walter Megieston from Texas, Oral Johnson from Chicago, and Leo Warner from Des Moines. Johnson attempted to escape during booking. police warned more arrests may follow.
The Hague report says a mine sweeper recovered life boats carrying 38 crew members from the American steamer Corneil Bluffs. The 1,376 ton United States Shipping Board vessel was said to have reached Rotterdam from Philadelphia on November 4.
Chief Warren warned that six Seattle citizens face assassination and six buildings may be dynamited by I W W members. Police added twenty five officers and planned increased patrols as he said the red threat is real and he would name victims and targets later. He warned that Wobblies hold bomb practices near the city and vowed deadly force to stop any wrongdoing.
Dry squad officers raided Carl Sylvester's farm near Black Diamond and seized a still and illicit liquor. Sylvester claimed the liquor was six months old. H. A. Bellack, an Austrian merchant from Auburn, was arrested. both men booked for federal investigation and Bellack's truck was seized by authorities.
Miners in the McAlester district did not return to work despite mine whistles blowing today. The article notes the stoppage began in the region with no immediate resolution or statement from mine operators.
