Deputy Baird pursued and fired as the robbers tried to flee, tools and shots marking the chase. A pursuing police force formed, seeking the wounded man as blood spots indicated his path. The dead bandit lies unidentified, his head destroyed and clothing unhelpful for identification. Hillier had bought a shotgun yesterday and fired with revenge in the moment, leaving the field with the pursuit still active.
A. W. Hight sues Ballard city officials and Kelley alleging a conspiracy to defeat the people’s will on the Ballard light and water plant. The injunction seeks to bar the franchise and prevent acceptance by the city clerk as a November 19 hearing is set.
York November 14 reports that nine college students posing as tramps infiltrated the Tamany campaign in the Wet election.
