Rev Henry Nave age 60 pastor of Montavilla Presbyterian church died of heart failure during the first hymn at the Gipsy Smith revival in Portland. He was taken to the rear of the auditorium and died a few minutes later. Survived by two sons, lawyers in New York and another son with the Portland YMCA.
Hilda Johnson, a domestic, accused of murdering and incinerating her newborn, attempted to end her life in the county jail by piercing her wrist with a safety pin. She was found by jailers after losing considerable blood and was taken to the county hospital, where officials said she probably would recover.

After a murder aboard in Portland, it sat idle for years, then changed hands to Olson & Mahoney of San Francisco in 1909, received new machinery, but a fire soon after nearly destroyed it.
Wm. E. Brand entered a Kewanee Illinois bank with two pails of pennies for deposit. He began saving Lincoln pennies two years ago and today counted 5 462 coins before making the deposit.
