Robert Ronk a one year old boy from Port Blakeley was found with a revolver and cartridges in his pockets by Patrolman Wilkes. He had reportedly chased the weapon from a Florence avenue dealer earlier. The boy was held at the station house until his father arrived. The weapon will be returned to the store and police will pursue action under laws prohibiting dangerous weapons to children.
The street committee will propose regrading a section of Union Street from Fourth to Seventh avenues with a diagonal to Mélrose and East Pine if enough property owners sign the petition. J. K. Taylor’s request for more time to complete Fourth Avenue work was granted after delays due to missing grading stakes. Lake Union residents urged wooden sidewalks on certain blocks.
A city committee rejected a petition for wooden sidewalks citing cost to abutting property owners. If passed, a measure to prohibit wooden sidewalks on select Queen Anne Hill streets would require future city actions and voter petitions. Streets affected include Comatock Lee from Queen Anne to Fifth, Galer from Queen Anne to Seventh, First through Fifth Aves west to Highland Drive, and Queen Anne Ave from McGraw to Harrison.
