Admiral Sampson objects to remarks in Schley court record

German Worker Robbery Attempt Ends in Overnight Capture

A German laborer known as Piefert drew fourteen dollars at a logging camp and was later robbed. At Fourth avenue and Main Street, Lane attacked him and tried to take his money. Bergt and Patrolmen Wilkes and Searing responded. Lane fled across the street but was pursued. Piefert, left in the mud, reported the event and Lane was captured at headquarters.
