Acting Mayor criticizes press censorship as un-American and misaligned with appointing authority. He argues the chief executive must act decisively for the city while courts will determine constitutionality. Lane asserts the chief is not a scapegoat and calls censorship unacceptable.
Settlement ends two month labor clash as ILA hires longshoremen on all Seattle piers through union halls. Returned soldiers and sailors may be employed regardless of union status. Pacific Coast unions voted to strike if demands were ignored, but agreement now halts the walkout and aligns hiring practices across docks.
A wartime plea denounces a penny tax on five cent ice cream cones, arguing it harms children and burdens the poor. The author urges abolishing the tax, proposing instead a policy to fund loans by taxing profits and reducing debt.

A memorial parade, cemetery services, and tributes by veterans and auxiliary groups follow at multiple sites including G A K cemetery, Lake View, Fort Lawton, and Bell docks. Bouquets will be delivered to homes of 300 Seattle men who died serving in World War I.

William Tilghman Jr and Allan F. Wilson pleaded guilty to attempting to kill Deputy Marshal Albert Rooks. Wilson was sentenced to 10 years at McNeil's Island by Judge Cushman. He must also serve seven months of a prior Atlanta sentence. He may return to Seattle for further hearings with Ruth Phippe and Elsie Winterbotham on gun conspiracy charges. Del Lampmas was fined $500 for moonshining.
New Haven Connecticut May 29 two companies of the Connecticut state guard 200 policemen and 40 military police patrol Yale College and downtown New Haven to prevent a riot renewal. Four more guard companies are housed in the local armory with motor trucks ready. Two newspaper offices are searched by police after threats against the papers.

The first section of Germany's peace treaty counter proposals, about 20 000 words and one third of the total, was delivered to the French foreign office in Versailles and will be translated for submission to the peace conference. An official left Versailles for Paris with the documents.
Fr A Crawford of 3642 Aurora ave narrowly escaped death Wednesday night when his car was struck by an O W locomotive at the Argo crossing on the Georgetown bridge. He said no warning lights or whistle were given and five men in the cab helped clear the wreckage. he cannot name them. The Day of Days begins in The Star Monday.
Winnipeg leaders of the Railway Engineers offer mediation to end the general strike as Mayor Gray forwards the proposal to a strike committee. Senator Robertson warns the strike could trigger an industrial revolution, with 325,000 workers at risk. Ottawa eyes a general conference while Toronto braces for a potential nationwide shutdown.
