The Star opposes Bolton’s bill to close public markets at 8 pm including Saturday nights. It argues many laboring families rely on Saturday shopping as a weekly routine and late shoppers would be barred, harming workers who finish around 5 or 6 pm. The editorial urges killing the measure or removing Saturday night closure.
The note to Washington is described as polite but open to negotiation and will request a formal statement of Lusitania facts.
