President White of the Carpenters' union asks the Star to report an inadvertent injustice to Bon Marche proprietors by a Building Trades council representative. The man stood with a banner in front of a Third Avenue store calling them scab trimmers, and then paraded. White says Bon Marche has always treated organized labor fairly and regrets the error.
Al Neill and Tommy Tracy tuned for a 20 round fight with both in peak form. Neill weighed 146 pounds and Tracy near 145 as training wound down. Mark Braughnessy trains in Ballard to challenge the winner while Tom Clancy and a sporting delegation head to Tacoma for the weigh in and crowd backing.
The federal appeals court directs Arthur Wheeler and Thomas J. Geary to show reason why they should not be punished for contempt. Wheeler, secretary to Judge Noyes, was served an order to appear as a witness in the McKenzie case. Wheeler’s location in Seattle was uncertain as of the report.
A Northwestern University English chair, Prof. J Scott Clark, told a class that modern college bred women are often poorer homemakers than previous generations. He warned men seeking wives from college circles, then joked about his own marriage and whether his wife Mrs Clark had a college education.
