A fifty dollar reward was offered for picking her out of the crowds at the Northwest Food Fair. The notice calls for tips or identification from attendees who recall her appearance among fairgoers.
The Star announces a contest with a masked girl in red distributing prize coupons in envelopes. A $50 gold prize awaits the first person who identifies her and is escorted to the office booth at the arena Saturday. The red outfit will be discarded Saturday night.
Washington May 27 There will be fewer instructed delegates than uninstructed delegates. The convention totals 985 with about 925 chosen so far. The number to nominate is 493 and many instructed delegates back a favorite son. Roosevelt and Hughes show undercurrents while old guard delegates control. Back room councils will decide the nominee on later ballots.
Dr. Arthur Warren Waite was convicted of first degree murder for killing his father in law, John H. Peck, with poison and germs. The jury, out a little over an hour, sentenced Waite to die in Sing Sing’s electric chair, remanded for sentence on Thursday.
Washington May 27 officials deny reports that Col. House will tour Europe for a peace mission. He does not intend to visit Europe in the near future and the Berlin reports are considered false by officials.
Mrs Margaret Horton says she harbors no desire for the chair for Dr Arthur Waite but believes he should be punished if guilty. She recalls Waite as a devoted musician and surgeon with a deceptive double life, while her husband notes her innocence and urges mercy if possible.
Mrs Waite attends the trial of her husband accused of poisoning her parents. She objects to capital punishment but says death would be just for such a crime. She vows to seek divorce on July 1 and recalls the impact of the alleged murder on her life.
Five shots were exchanged between Officer J J Kush and two fleeing thugs after a hold up at Seventh Ave and University St. near the Rainier club. Kush fired four times, one thug returned fire. none hit. The assailants, about 25 years old, light complexion, fled toward Sixth Seventh and Marion avenues after robbing Paulsen of ten cents and a buttonhook.
Vice President Lewis Hardenbergh of Carnation Milk Products Co is reported ill in Milwaukee with an appendicitis condition.
Logan Billingsley, former Stewart Street pharmacy proprietor, is held on a 2000 bond as an alleged Oklahoma fugitive after fleeing with prior dry law penalties. Prosecutor Lundin to file new charges against Fred and Sherman Billingsley for liquor sales. J. J. Eckel appeals a 30 day jail term and 200 dollar fine in a dry law case.
By noon Saturday 13,288 citizens had declared intent to march in Seattle's big peace parade on June 10. The initial target was 25,000, with plans to exceed that total as recruiting continues. A division of short men led by Sydney Smith is forming, while 300 men over six feet have signed up under Attorney Bruce Short. The parade committee will meet Saturday afternoon to set a definite start time. Various groups, including 41 from Tilikum drum and trumpet corps, 190 Phi Gamma Delta members, the Press club, 200 furniture workers, 85 Seattle Lighting Co. employees, and Knights of Pythias units, are among contributors. A peace mass meeting is planned at Dreamland Sunday at 3 p.m with Rev. Hugh Elmer Brown presiding and speakers including Hulet M. Wells, Emma Anderson, W. G. Beach, C. F. Bogardus, Samuel Koch, Robert Bridges, Glenn Hoover, Anna Louise Strong, and Warren D. Lane.
In Waukegan Illinois on May 27 the prosecutor said the jury would hear the first witness on Monday, as William H Orpet, a college student, faces accusation of murdering his sweetheart Marian Lambert.
Washington's export and import district reported April totals far exceed 1915 figures with imports $14.17 million and exports $25.50 million. Alaska shipments reached a Seattle record of $3.86 million and Asiatic Russia led foreign exports at $18.48 million. Japan also figures prominently in Washington trade.
Benjamin Ide Wheeler president of the University of California detained his view that growing national pride makes universal peace an illusion. He spoke at a League to Enforce Peace meeting as delegates await President Wilson's anticipated address on action in world peace.

The council plans to vote on a $950 paving project between the municipal car line tracks at Seventh Ave and Broad St. The ordinance, introduced by Councilman Dale and endorsed by the utilities committee, goes to a vote Monday.
An unattended delivery wagon on James street near Third avenue broke loose at 12 30 on Saturday. It rolled downhill striking Samuel Fisk age nine of 1011 Taylor avenue before being stopped after crossing Second avenue. The vehicle owned by J S Preston 912 Western Avenue had defective brakes and caused a second collision. The boy was taken home badly bruised.
