The home of W. W. Weatgate at 209 Firet av. N. was entered while the family was away, between and p.m. yesterday, with $500 to $600 worth of jewelry stolen. Entry was made through a front porch window, but a large silverware collection and $15 in cash were left behind.
Bulletin reports five bears seen in West Seattle with varying sizes from cub to house-sized. Residents aided by police hunted through the night but found no bears, though several witnesses claimed sightings and described a large bear as the one seen near a house.
