Salem Oregon May 27 W Cooper Morris began a six year sentence in the Oregon penitentiary for wrecking the Oregon Trust and Savings Bank of Portland where he was cashier. He fought for months for liberty as jurists politicians and business men appealed to the governor but Governor West believed Morris guilty. Warden James said Morris will not be put to work for the present. Morris was indicted for embezzlement of 75000 in notes and 50000 in money.
