Official reports from Port Arthur describe a complete Japanese blockade around the southern Liao Tung peninsula with land forces pushing Russians west of Dalny. Kin Chow has fallen, and fighting centered on artillery for hours as three Japanese warships supported land batteries and a Russian gunboat attempted to disrupt the assault.
Tokio reports Kin Chow fell after heavy fighting on May 26 with five hours of cannonading aided by three Japanese warships. Reconnaissance on May 22 and 23 identified the enemy heavy guns on Nashan hill and Huashang Tow with multiple calibers. The assault began May 22 and resulted in Kin Chow’s capture at 5:30 a.m., Nashan hill secured and enemy pursued.
United States revenue agents raid the River Park home of Fred Fay and uncover a complete moonshine distillery with a 20 gallon daily capacity and about 115 gallons of high proof whisky. Ringleader Sarael Cohen and several officers are sought as the cache is traced toward possible Alaska shipments.

Loss to the mill about 50000 with 15000 insured. electric plant valued at 6000 with 2000 insured. City left in darkness last night.

The jury in the Gillespie murder trial, after being charged, retired at 10 this morning in Rising Sun Indiana. By noon they showed no signs of reaching a verdict.
A heat sparked blaze destroyed the Metcalf Shingle Company's dry kiln at Kelso Washington with 5 000 000 shingles inside and caused an estimated loss of about 12 000 dollars. Insurance coverage likely half. Kellogg's warehouse also burned in the incident.

The Star withdraws its 600 reward for the recovery of Little Prewitt Baker after a letter from Joseph Richards says Mr. Baker prefers to pay all expenses and avoid multiple offers. The Baker family still offers 1000 dollars for information leading to the child’s recovery and continues the search with no new developments.
Mrs Debidorah Swimm of 4058 Eighth avenue northeast drank four bottles of car bolic acid and died late Wednesday night. She had been mildly insane, found the acid while her sister-in-law was away, and her husband James B. Swimm was in Alaska. Dr Davie of Fremont attended the case. coroner Hoye declined an inquest. The body was moved to Butterworth's morgue.
The steamer Nome City is set to sail for Nome tomorrow night with all freight aboard except perishables yet to be loaded.
T Ingram of Cleveland, first grand engineer of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, collapsed and died at noon today during a convention speech in Los Angeles California.
The Green Lake Improvement club formed a committee to negotiate with the park board and Seattle Electric on lowering Green Lake to summer level to allow a shore boulevard. They seek partial payment from Seattle Electric for lake lowering due to erosion and roadbed protection. A police-protection committee was also named amid vandalism concerns. The group opposed a park board proposal for a city right of way speedway along the Cedar River pipe line.
A major fire at Rogers saw mill and box factory in Anacortes destroyed the plant, with losses over $100,000. The fire began in the engine room and rapid spread overwhelmed local and Bellingham departments who fought the blaze as flames consumed the structure and lumber inside. Insurance reportedly covers about $33,000.
City Chemist Smith reports four more water samples in Woodland Park and Fremont are impure and unfit for use. Health Officer Ludlow warns Frank North at 708 North Thirty-eighth Street Fremont to switch to city water to avoid illness. He also orders Woodland Park spring filled and signposted. Bates at 3632 Evanston Avenue and Mrs. Easson at 7722 Eastlake Avenue have water polluted by animal and vegetable matter.

Frank Davis released from county jail with two companions after selling liquor to Indians meets Emma Bush who lends him money.
