Karl Little a No 3 engine house fireman discusses with Chief Wappenstein alleged police involvement in looting after the Arlington pier fire. San Diego May 25 three haymaker men James Porter Patrick Sweeney and Edward Robinson were found dead in the ruins of a buried cabin on a Vista ranch. A kerosene cap was recovered and authorities say the men were murdered as they could not have escaped.
London May 25. The head office and all country agencies of the Mutual Reserve Life Insurance company in Great Britain failed to open today. Joseph P. F. McIntyre will lecture at the Seattle theater on Tuesday evening on The Billion Dollar Blast and Blaze at San Francisco.

Des Moines May 25 The state superintendent of schools issued a circular letter asking every Iowa school child to contribute to aid in rebuilding the San Francisco schools.
In St. Petersburg on May 26 the government's address by Premier Goremykin was not read in the douma as expected. Socialists adopted a cautious, moderate stance toward the douma.
H C Henry, Chicago Milwaukee St Paul general contractor, awarded contracts for wear construction in Washington. C J Johnson of Minneapolis gets from Ellensburg to the Cascades summit 70 miles. Martell Matheson of Tacoma awarded eight miles. G Layne of Seattle hired for seven miles from Cascade tunnel to Snoqualmie section.
Detective Barbee arrested R. B. Shaw a colored vaudeville performer on charges of stealing moving picture films from the Pan tager theater. The films depicted the destruction of San Francisco and were taken yesterday afternoon from the vacant theater premises.
In the wake of the San Francisco earthquake and fire the chaos led to overcrowded steerage on the steamer Charles Nelson. Passengers led by W B Leech sue for damages claiming discomfort aboard the voyage from San Francisco. The company argues its San Francisco offices were destroyed and two temporary sites opened. An excess of 16 steerage tickets occurred and 11 extra passengers boarded undetected until sea.
Wisconsin representative Cooper said he was told the express company amendment would be killed in committee. He demanded a named informant or Hepburn would be believed to be mistaken. Hepburn retracted, but Cooper called it the first time he was accused of lying.

Riddle Bishop, famed sporting promoter and writer, travels to Seattle intending to settle and start a business. If Aurelio Herrera defeats Battling Nelson in Los Angeles, Bishop will add another distinction as discoverer of the world champion lightweight, Herrera, whom he first managed.
