President Roosevelt greeted by largest Seattle crowd in history

The Roosevelt visit drew massive Seattle crowds as the president landed at Arlington dock and rode to the old University grounds. Militia and police kept order while decorations and illuminations showcased a city united in welcoming him. Officials praised the reception committee and warned of the vast turnout, with tens of thousands of visitors and 40 000 strangers in the city for the event.

Passing of W. F. Gatter in Tacoma

Special to The Star. Tacoma May 23. W. F. Peter, pilot on Northern Pacific liners for years, died this morning in Vic- BC. He was well known on sound. He leaves five children in Tacoma.

Strike Settled at Union Dollarmakers

Omaha reports the Union Dollarmakers strike ending after 11 months with workers to return on May 27. Details of the settlement are not disclosed to the public.

Steamer Hulki Founders Off Bali Sea

The Minnish steamer Hulki foundered in the Baltic Sea near London on May 24. Seventeen people were lost in the disaster.
