A massive blaze in Whitehorse Yukon Territory consumed four to six hotels and many stores including the Canadian Bank of Gillmerer and the Windsor. The unknown origin fire, reaching $300000 in losses, cut off supplies to nearby camps and prompted relief steps from Skagway via the White Pass route. The Jefferson arrived with 25 tons of fresh cargo to aid.

Albany May 23 The Weather Spotter notes Douglas Robinson brother in law of President Roosevelt has been appointed receiver for the defunct New York Trust company.
Ed ward Smith, San Francisco tax collector, pleaded guilty to embezzling 16000 and 25000 in separate indictments. He received 10 year sentences on each count, to run concurrently, totaling six years and four months with good behavior. Total embezzlement cited at 100000.
