Henry Nay received a $50 fine from Justice P. V. Davis on Friday for stealing a gold watch from Jessie Monitor. Nay claimed a ruse by the woman to recoup $6 loaned after a hardluck tale. The woman and a male partner described Nay in her room on Fifth and Yesler. a match lit revealed him, and Patrolman Clarence Carr put him in custody.
Emil Sendstrom, an expressman and married man, attacked Ballard street life with a string of madness. He damaged a streetcar, cut a horse’s tail with a Bowie knife, flooded a tavern by pulling pipes, tore up mattresses, and danced in a pool of water at the police station before being taken into custody. police say drunkenness sparked the spree.
Nine deserted wives left Judge G Griffin's court within a half hour after a Saturday morning hearing. Grounds were abandonment and non-support. Debtors included Hannah Waddell, Margaret Tetzioff, Ruth Shotwell, Leona Holloway, Mabel Smoith, Mary Hendricks, Ida Newell, Matilda Hendy, and Hannah Danielson, all legally separated from their husbands.
Physicians of the board of health examined Friday afternoon the threats of the hello girls at Sunset and Independent telephone companies to determine the danger of spreading contagious diseases via infected receivers. Two diphtheria cases occurred last month among the operators and culture samples from the threats were analyzed. reports on cultures will be released early next week.
City detectives Wappenstein Barbee and Tennant arrested Harma Stafford a cowboy on a forgery charge at Pike and Second Friday evening. Stafford allegedly passed a 1500 note at Old National Bank Spokane about four weeks earlier claiming it had been given by mail thieves. He admits the act saying the money was spent in wild dissipation and blames the thieves. He attempted to draw a Colt revolver from his buckskin pant pocket during the arrest.
Police haul sailor J Andrews from Pier 4 after witnesses hear splashing at night. Patrol wagon takes him to headquarters where he is ironed and dried out before being released.
Police Judge Gordon handed a small parcel labeled Justice to Frank Proehl and John Reaveley in the courtroom Saturday morning, as officers watched. Reaveley was arrested for drunken and disorderly conduct on Washington street Thursday afternoon by Patrolman Chipman. Pfohl refused to assist the patrolman. both were released and judgment suspended.

Oliver W. Stewart of Chicago, a renowned orator and the sole prohibition member of the Forty third Illinois legislature, will deliver two addresses on Prohibition at the Auditorium Fourth and Pine on June 2.
Senator S. Russell died here following an appendectomy. He leaves a 3-year-old daughter and a widow, Miss Anna Bowman, whom he married in Seattle five years ago. He was a Mason and an officer in K of P W O W and MWA. The body will be sent to Seattle Monday for burial.
