Democrats Still After Turner for Governor
The state Democratic convention plans to adopt its longstanding platform, including a pledge for a state railroad commission. Senator Turner of Spokane is the party’s unanimous first choice for governor if he will run, with broad pressure cited to win his acceptance. If Turner declines, George W. Cotterill is seen as the likely governor nominee and Turner could aim for lieutenant governor or U S Senate depending on results.

Seawall Plan Backed by Chamber on Riverfront Fill
At a Chamber of Commerce meeting the city affairs committee recommended filling Railroad avenue from Pike street to Denny Way with earth from the Second Avenue regrade. A rock faced bulkhead would hold the fill, using about 2,000,000 cubic yards of material along the waterfront. The bulkhead would keep the dredged dirt cost minimal for the city. The electric line project to Fort Lawton remains unsettled with no agreement yet between Seattle Electric Company and authorities, and further steps will be taken to proceed.
