Mining Machinery to Boost Alaska Interior Dredging
J. H. Regere of the White Pass & Yukon route says more mining equipment and dredge material will move into Alaska's interior this year than in the boom days. The Themis steamship, under Mac Kennie Hros, sails from Vancouver with 600 tons of dredging material for the north, while The New Canadian Perty Mile Co ships 2000 tons to be staged at White Horse for Yukon flow to Perty Mile. The Thema will handle all dredging and mining freight, with 12 carloads aboard the Guggenhelme and heavy loading gear to move large pieces. Windy Arm district now hosts 236 workers as new machinery goes into use and more men will join the mining effort.
