Schools urged to administer mothers pensions in child maintenance plan

Mrs. Nellie Burnside president of the Women’s Legislative Federation argues school boards should run the mothers pension program rather than the juvenile court. After months of study she presented a report to the North End club advocating the act be named the child maintenance act and stressing aid for any child in need regardless of the mother’s status. Juvenile Judge Dykeman supports the proposal.

Fears and Fears of "Pen" Convicts Highlight Trial

Four years after accusing Peter Miller of murder George Rose faces trial again for burglary. Rose, who previously testified against Miller, now claims Miller’s tongue and alleged immunity promises influence witnesses. Rose’s accomplice James Donovan and John Staton backed the accusation. Rose was found guilty of robbing Elsie Birk’s home on Sixth Avenue.

Sunset limited derailment injures seven near El Paso

Limited derailed east of El Paso at 1 30 a m injuring five passengers and two dining car staff. A broken rail caused the wreck and some authorities attributed blame to Mexican workers.

Puget Sound Navigation Co Protest Over Rates At Hearing

O O Calderhead rate expert for the public service commission testified on Tuesday that two regular steamers and one relief boat on the Seattle Tacoma run are enough to handle traffic and provide a fair return on investment under the current fares. The company claimed four steamers operate and sought higher passenger rates to cover costs. the hearing adjourned for two hours at noon.

Superior Judge Jurey ordered Mrs. George A. Sherwood and other officers of the Women's Civic Club Inc to turn over immediately the club books and name to Mrs. Frances A. Hoberte.
