In Olympia a three men and three women laundry wage conference split over an $8.50 weekly minimum. The five men backed $8.50 while four women opposed it as the minimum wage commission rejected the figure. Leaders debated meal and room allowances amid a lengthy session that closed with Nixon claiming a $2.40 meal voucher.
Al Reetz, 24, a lumber mill worker, was found unconscious by the road near the Country Club early this morning. He was taken to the county jail in serious condition after being robbed of 225 dollars by men he had been drinking with on First avenue. Deputy Beebe and Roberts investigated and said Beetz was struck on the head during the assault and cash taken from a sock.
