Train Crash Kills Many in Harrisburg Explosion

An express rail collision with a dynamite freight train in South Harrisburg at 1 10 am left 60 dead and many injured. Passengers were hurled from berths. survivors carried to hospital as explosions continued and emergency crews worked through dawn. Several passengers were swept into the Susquehanna River. Mrs. Hilmira Erickson of New York survived nearly naked after escaping through a window.

Knox's Daughter Among Injured in Early Morning Crash

Among the passengers were many prominent people. Mr and Mrs Tindell, the latter a Knox family daughter, were among those reported injured early today. Mrs Albert J Barr and two Barr daughters, of the Pittshburg Post editor’s family, were slightly hurt and taken to Harrisburg hospital. Their condition is not critical. Mrs Barr asked newspaper men to relay this statement.

Survivors Recount Crash Aftermath in Pittsburg Car

In the wreck a woman escaped to a shanty with only a shred of nightgown. A G Cope of Pittsburg recounted being crushed between seats until the second blast freed him and he fled through a window. Passengers were killed or hurled from cars. injured include Harry Spritzer of Pittsburg George Cribbe of Pittsburg Charles Deforest of Cleveland and B L Harmon of Pittsburg.

Train 19 Wreck Westbound Express Tragedy Near Harrisburg

The Cleveland and Cincinnati express no. 19 left Philadelphia at 11 50 p m Wednesday and wrecked near Harrisburg. Many dead burned and unidentifiable, at least 10 bodies under wreck, injuries possibly 125, 18 recovered, thousands laborers clearing eight miles of stalled trains. John B Reynolds survived after aiding others amid explosions and chaos.

Russian warships sighted in Tsugaru straits part of squadron

Two Russian warships from Vladivostok reported in the Tsugaru straits on Tuesday. Another report names them as part of Ro jestvensky's squadron. Rural delivery route No 1 to begin June 15 at Rochester Thurston county will serve 504 people and 112 houses. Bids to repair the county poor farm buildings are being heard by the county commissioners Thursday.
