Dode Goes Ashore Near Port Townsend In Dense Fog

The steamer Dode of Puget Sound Navigation went ashore on a rocky beach near Marrowstone in dense fog while en route from Port Townsend to Seattle. Passengers were removed by Wane and returned to Port Townsend. Efforts to refloat the vessel have failed. Robert Wilson was at the wheel during the grounding. The Dode runs daily between Seattle and Port Townsend and other routes via Port Gamble.

Washington May 4 The president's wife Mrs Roosevelt and a party aboard the Lyigh narrowly escaped death when the launch crashed into a dock. The starboard side damage and broken flag staff nearly struck Mrs Roosevelt near Captain Bulmer who led the rescue. The president's staff suspects misread signals by the engineer.

Moulders Say 40 Shops Grant Eight-Hour Day

At a special Iron Moulders' union meeting it was reported about 40 shops along the North Pacific coast had granted the eight hour day.
