Seattle tests new streetcar warning device
Chief Cook and City Electrician D L Hickey demonstrated a fire alarm warning device to city officials and Seattle Electric Company leaders at Sixth Avenue and Columbia Street. The iron box with lights and a bell drops an arm when an alarm is raised, then rings until firefighters arrive. If adopted the system would cover 17 intersections at about 50 dollars per box with sectional operation to avoid downtown bells during North Seattle alarms.
