Counterfeiters net in Onawa swindle
A man arrested in Onawa Iowa after passing four counterfeit dollars on merchants. He was nabbed while getting change for a bed coin at A W Mann druggist. He dropped money en route to county jail. five 1876 dated quarters and a satchel with five silver dollars and eighteen quarters were found, plus burglar tools. The prisoner identified as Fred F Burtt of Elgin Illinois, with prior travel in St Joseph Missouri and Lincoln Nebraska.

Narrow escape at Yesler Way power house incident
W G Clark narrowly escaped serious injury at Yesler Way when a descending cable car struck him as he stepped onto the Incoming car. He was knocked twelve feet, fell by the track, and was later found bleeding with a head wound and back pain.
