Firemen crushed under elevator in Heaney building blaze
Two firefighters were crushed and another injured when an elevator shaft collapsed during a basement fire at Merley Heaney in Heaney. Lieutenants Kirk and Larsen of Company No 6 were fatally struck as the elevator plunged down the shaft. The blaze damaged stock valued between 16 000 and 15 000 dollars, fully insured, with most damage confined to the basement storage.
