On a Garden site at Nos 29 and R York, workers uncovered eleven skulls and many bones forming parts of human skeletons during excavations for a new building. The bones, in poor condition and likely long buried, suggest potential murder victims tied to the notorious Volks Garden Bowery area.

A vague cable from Washington cites Secretary Squiers and the embassy at Pekin denying unofficial charges against Minister Long. The state department says the accusations were based on misinformation and clarifies Squiers’ stance.
The American Cattle Growers association completed its organization in Denver. The constitution allows members involved in both sheep and cattle raising. Initiation is $6 with a tax of one cent per head on all cattle owned. The Humboldt heads to Skagway tonight with a large passenger list and a fine cargo. Among the passengers are F. P. Freeman and G. F. Mayhood, two well known traders, who will haul a large quantity of merchandise over the ice into Dawson.
Lorenzo Marques reports Gen. Kitchener granted a seven day armistice to confer with Boer chiefs in the field. In Middleburg on Feb 27 Gen. Kitchener and Gen. Botha held talks on ending the war. They met again today at Dunhill with Botha unaccompanied and Kitchener with a secretary. Amsterdam dispatches say Boers in Holland fear Botha may yield to England while Kruger urges continued resistance with Steyn, De Wet and Viljoen.

The Alaska Steamship Co. Farrajlon is at Kerry's mill loading lumber for Alaska and will carry passengers and freight from Bernabacher's dock tomorrow then sail north tomorrow night. The Kin tuckie sits at Tacoma awaiting departure for Portland to load feed hay and many animals for Manila. A scowload of brick arrived at Pacific Coast Co. dock this morning loosening the market.
Postmaster general announces new mail arrangement with Japan for U S troops in North China. Japanese mail will carry by train from Nagasaki to Meiji and by ships from Moji to Shan Hai Kwan. United States will transport Japanese mail under guard from Shan Hai Kwan to Tientsin. System is in force.
The state senate rejected a city bill to hand over interest and penalties on delinquent municipal taxes to Seattle and other cities. City officials say taxes should generate penalties for cities, not counties or state. City Comptroller and an attorney argue county rights to the money are invalid. Since 1948 Seattle delinquencies added up to 25 000 dollars, with only about 1 000 potentially due to the county in exchange for tax-collection services. Spokane and Tacoma share the issue, and Seattle may test the law in court to settle the dispute for all cities.
The Northern Pacific Halfway Co tears down corrugated iron shacks at the foot of Yealer Way to clear space for a driveway to a dredged ship harbor, paving the way for wharf construction amid a building boom and shortage.

Helena March 2 30 a m Paris Gibson Democrat of Great Falls won the United States Senate seat after a night session of unusual excitement and a long deadlock. Gibson, born in New Hampshire in 1890, came to Montana in 1879.
The British steamer Aviona has gone down in the bay of Bilbao with the entire crew lost. The incident is reported from London and confirms a total loss at sea.
Miss Nina Moore, 21, traveled from San Francisco to Dawson to wed Capt. Bledsoe, but learned he is already tied to Pearl Lloyd. Dawson society debates her fate as she contemplates reclaiming travel expenses or drastic action amid a scandalous Yukon romance.

In Washington March 7 the senate Republican caucus voted to delay committee reorganization until December and the extra session will adjourn tomorrow or Monday. In Knornoster Missouri Mrs Flien Alien is jailed as an accomplice in the murder of her 17 year old daughter Nellie Allen whose body was found in the street after suspected suffocation in the Allen home.
Mr. J. S. Bushnell, long with the Pacific Coast Co., has recently joined the North west Trust & Safe Deposit Co.
William Alder Benton was convicted of murder in the first degree for killing his uncle Dan Richards and involvement in the December 6 killing. The jury deliberated 66 minutes after instruction by Prosecuting Attorney Griffin before delivering the verdict. The scene drew a somber response from the mother, sister Annie Seaton, and brother Lewiea Seaton, while Seaton showed little emotion as the court prepared to sentence.

Residents complain of health department neglect as diphtheria cases prompt quarantine at the Hagen home on Irving Street. Neighbors report outsiders access and children playing near the quarantined house despite warnings. Health officials deny stationed quarantine officer at 2415 Irving Street during the period.

Twenty‑one trustees were selected for the Labor Temple Association and will convene Monday evening at 7:30 in Pioneer Building to file incorporation papers. The Iron Molders' Union of Cleveland won a strike against the National Founders' Association, securing recognition.
The funeral for J Whitford was held yesterday afternoon from Bonney and Stewart's chapel with family and friends in attendance.

Mr Henschel is noted as former director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra while Mrs Henschel is praised for her voice and stage presence. In Richmond Arkansas this morning at 7:30 a.m. Kirby Gray William Williams J Johnson and Henry Brooks, all African American, were hanged on the same scaffold. Gray Williams and Johnson were accused of killing a Kansas City Southern bridge watchman on the river Hed and Brooks killed an elderly Black man.
Dover March 8 Today's ballot yielded no result and Ad Dick's bid for the Delaware Senate appears ended. Both houses will adjourn this afternoon and Delaware will not be represented in the U S upper house due to constitutional vacancy rules.
