He was sentenced to life imprisonment. The Peabody plant produced khaki uniforms for Canadian troops when it was destroyed.
San Francisco report says Mrs. Arthur Tarpey, wife of a San Francisco clubman, was detained by Australian authorities in Sydney for several days on suspicion of being a German spy, according to her arrival details aboard the liner Sonoma.

London reports an Admiralty statement says Zeppelins did not hit the British naval position at Hull Sunday night. The revised official tally lists 12 killed in the attack.
