Montlake Bridge Would Not Boost Tax Vote urged for Proposition B
Thos B. Askren told the chamber luncheon that the Montlake bridge bond interest would be 19 cents per $1000, or 47 cents yearly on a $5000 home. Arkorn said 250 homes valued at $6000 would raise enough taxes to cover interest with no tax increase for current homeowners. The bridge would unlock north canal areas, improve access to business districts, and cut travel time for eastern and southern residents to the university Laurelhurst and Sand Point fields.
