United Press report recounts mayor and officers seizing a working man from a street car near Fernhill. The man and others refused to pay five cent fares as city authorities argued the line operated within municipal limits amid ongoing court actions and appeals.
County commissioners heard a heated session over the proposed Lake Canal. Green urged support for the canal while opponents argued cost and county backing would shape the decision. Powell outlined anticipated expenses as officials prepared for a rehearing and possible court action.
Three incidents reported to the police damaged the courthouse plumbing at Eighth Avenue. The building suffered wreckage with broken plumbing. no one harmed. The owner was listed as Mart Company, with tie to Peter QV, and a residence at 2223 N Broad damaged.

W. H. Bostwick fatally shot Chief of Police Davie and Deputy Sheriff Sheffield after a 24 hour barricade at his Osceola home. He wounded Sheriff Meinnes and Deputies Base and Tucker during the attempted rearrest. Four of his children were inside the house during the shooting. Bostwick had previously been released on bond for an assault to commit murder and was rearmed as officers moved to seize him.
Adolph Zeis, a traveling salesman, died when his car struck a telegraph pole after being blinded by a street car headlight near Oakland. Mrs Zeis is critically injured and Charles Reuter and Mrs. J W Bransford are seriously hurt, but retained their seats during the crash.
The case against William H. Garland for grand larceny was begun a second time in Judge Ralph Kaufman's court. Garland is accused of obtaining $1,000 from Job L. Beardslee by misrepresenting the Apex Coal company, of which Garland was promoter. The first trial on February 26 ended with a jury disagreement.

Three men robbed an Oregon Short Line train near Harrisville early today, looting the Wells Fargo express car and passengers before escaping. Special Agent Joseph Jones led an armed posse from Ogden and Brig ham City pursued the bandits as authorities spread word to Salt Lake City.

He struck Michael Thistwolle an Italian pedestrian crossing at sea Crossing as another car approached. Stopped in the road witnesses say Taft was not at fault. Thistwolle’s skull was believed fractured.
Theodore Roosevelt Jr and his bride travel from San Francisco to Los Angeles to complete their honeymoon. He will begin duties at Hartford Carpet company on August 1 at a salary of $500 per month. They stayed in their suite 24 hours, avoiding visitors and phone calls.

In Georgetown at Union Christian Church Roosevelt Hill a 20 year old woman Manda Vandyke attempted suicide during morning services. She drank poison but survived after a doctor arrived. Neighbors gossiped widely about her and she believed the rumors caused distress leading to the act. Her father John Vandyke works in the local confectionery firm Vandyke and Youngman.
