Captain Morey Alive Tells of Carrizal Fight
In San Antonio June 26 Capt. Lewis Morey of Troop K 10th Cavalry, wounded and near death, arrived at Pershing headquarters by automobile to give a personal account of the Carrizal battle in which many of his and Capt. Charles Boyd’s men were killed by Carranza soldiers. He sent Pershing the first officer’s report of the clash.

Morey Roommate Of Seattle Officer At West Point Bond
Capt. Lewis Sydney Morey of the Tenth cavalry, reported back with American lines after the Carrizal engagement, formerly roomed at West Point with Capt. Arthur P. Hyde USAA coast artillery inspector in Seattle. Hyde called Morey a born soldier and one of the bravest men he knew, predicting he would order his men to save themselves and return to his lines unassisted.

Morey Regains Strength After Carrizal Wound
Morey, in good condition despite wounds from Carrizal fighting, was treated by surgeons. He hid in an arroyo 2000 yards from the battle, sent his letter via three troopers who sheltered with him. The letter goes to the command at Ojo Federico, as Lieut Meyer leads troop M of the 10th.
