At Speedway Chicago on June 26 Darius Resta driving a Peugeot led the 500 mile race at the 200 mile mark earning a $1000 extra prize. His 97.8 mph average put him ahead of Cooper in a Stutz Perporato and Grant in Sunbeam and Rickenbarcker in Maxwell as the field progressed toward 240 miles.

Alfred Arias a 35 year old cook of 320 Ninth Ave is jailed on a charge of burning his five year old son Winton by holding his hands over hot paper to stop him from taking money for candy. The burns are described as severe with permanent scar potential and bail is set at 250 dollars.
