Chicago Lockout Locks 30 000 Workers in Building Strike
Ny United Press reports Chicago faced a major building strike as 25 000 to 30 000 workers were locked out by the Building Trades Employers' association. More than 20 000 workers on 30 million dollars of new construction were sent home, halting most city construction and heightening a fight between unionism and open shop. The move follows non union workers on a Continental Bank project and aims to starve out union labor.
