Washington lumbermen secretary Beckman and chamber of commerce secretary Meikle urged President Shonts to appoint a purchasing agent in Seattle. They argue Seattle could supply most Panama canal needs, surpassing San Francisco, a position Shonts has resisted. Colonel Edwards supports sending an agent to Seattle.

W W Sylvester president of the Issaquah Bank recalls his first work at Beaver Day Wisconsin riding a lead horse on a reaper. He earned 25 cents a day during harvest and $3 at season end, buying red top boots and cloth for a suit. His mother made the suit.
Albert G. Steinike, 35, found unconscious at 216 University Street Sunday by Patrolman Humes, died at 12 15 Monday morning at Wayside Emergency hospital. Police suspect knock-out drops though hospital staff note prior residence and possible alcohol-related causes. Body taken to Bonney Watson morgue. no clear next of kin identified.
Ben Campbell fourth vice president in charge of traffic for the Great Northern arrived in Seattle from Portland in his private car. He recently joined Hill forces after leaving the Burlington system and his visit signals changes, including promotions of F. K. Whitney and C. E B. Stone. Campbell's trip relates to J. C. Eden's resignation and a likely staff shakeup.
A false alarm at 5:58 a.m. in Fremont was triggered by Mrs. Younger who mistook a flag for fire and raised the alarm. Fire stations responding to box 312 wasted time before learning no blaze existed.
