Pacific Construction & Engineering Company transforms Seattle ship forging
In 1917 Pacific Construction & Engineering Company builds a major Seattle forge plant at 2917 Whatcom Avenue, enabling 15 to 50 ton ingots to become shafts and stern frames. The facility features three hydraulic presses, twenty one furnaces, overhead cranes, and a one thousand pound testing machine, boosting Northwest shipbuilding capacity and delivering forged stern frames to Skinner & Eddy within tight deadlines.
