James Allison and Edgar Marshall, two inmates, escaped their cell and charged toward the jail office before deputies Hogan and Downey and a crew of short-term trusties repelled the breakout. A 16-pound stone hit Allison, stunning him, and he was recaptured as he neared the court steps.
Pictures taken at the front show Moses Druximan a trusty serving a two year sentence for receiving stolen property holding the cell door as Hogan frees Marshall. Druximan’s fingers were caught, he was injured but held firm. Jailer praise followed as trusties aided recapture. No one seriously hurt. Allison, Marshall cut and injuries noted. Sheriff’s probe found saws concealed in shoes and cell, gear heated to soften bars. Further details continued on page three.

June 8 dispatch from St Petersburg cites Viceroy Alexieff and Rear Admiral Wilgert. The gunboat Bobr aided by torpedo boats Bourney and Boyky supported the Russian right flank at Kin Chow. On May 28 ten torpedo boats were sent out. one struck a rock and sank with crew saved. An editorial urges education improvements for the Russian masses.
