Corwin Steamship Company’s passenger vessel Corwin arrived in Nome on June 2 after a 18 day voyage from Seattle May 11 via Dutch Harbor. Captain F L West commanded the ship which faced no trouble from ice on the northern route and set a record for reaching Nome. Local agents for Corwin praised the crew’s navigation and the ship’s steady passage through the ice laden seas.
June 6 war dispatches describe orders to depart for Manila and conditions for battle readiness. Reports from Tokyo Paris Berlin and Hong Kong note naval movements including Russian prisoners and Japanese actions in Asia with several ships and crews involved.

Larsen said he planned to leave for the north, while White departed the courthouse with evident disdain for law and order.

J B Ferris aged 57 died at the family home 535 Polk Ballard Sunday night from pneumonia. He was a native of Iowa. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a m with interment at Crown Hill cemetery.

P A Halibert owner of Union bakery and Pat M H Dolan bar proprietor were admonished in Judge Gordon s court after sanitary inspector Windt flagged filthy alleys behind their businesses. Warrants issued but offenders received only a talking to as officials warned of city ordinance violations.
The French ship Turgot arrived from Antwerp with cement and iron for the port. Steamer Bee reached from San Francisco with cement and brick for Galbraith Ba con Co. Steamer Melville Dollarsalle departed for Nome from Seattle carrying general merchandise and mining supplies.
