More than 150 bedridden or isolated individuals will ride 72 donated autos to Seattle University stadium rim tonight to watch The Wayfarer pageant without leaving their cars. Dr. F R Loope, paralyzed, coordinates calls and lists shut-ins eager for the special event.
Mr Maddock aged 26 and his wife 19 left Seattle with one hundred dollars for a cross country hike to New York City. They plan to travel light, accept no pickups, and walk every step over the Yellowstone Trail via Livingston Montana Detroit Michigan. They expect three months to reach the metropolis, facing heat and other hardships along the way. Maddock's mother and sister live in Detroit and they stayed at the Cherry Hotel during their visit.
Henry Albers, central to a major Northwest espionage case, died at his Milwaukie home after months of illness endured during legal battles. He had been convicted and sentenced to three years in federal prison with a $10,000 fine, living in seclusion as appeals and retrials loomed. His health deteriorated after doctors reported complications tied to the pressured, prolonged proceedings.
Acting Mayor Robert B. Hesketh urged Secretary Hughes to hold the proposed preliminary disarmament conference on the Pacific coast in Seattle. He cited Seattle facilities including steamship links to Australia, New Zealand and Victoria, B C, and a direct China Japan passenger service. The Chamber joined in urging a $100,000 Blaine peace arch appropriation via Samuel Hill to back Seattle’s bid.
Mrs Dora Waterman was sentenced to 17 years for murdering her husband, claiming jury bias based on looks. New York physician Dr W A Wovschin reports from Soviet Russia that vice and crime are at a low level. He notes abolition of prostitution, economic adjustment rather than depravity as key factors, and cites rationed living conditions as limiting opportunities for wrongdoing. He claims earlier eras in Petrograd and Moscow were far more liberal and decadent.
A blazing launch was found Tuesday night near Leschi Park on Lake Washington by Capt. O L Vanriper of the harbor patrol. A second launch with a man named Snyder aboard was found. Snyder claimed ownership of the burning craft and said he took it out to destroy it. Vanriper released him but the man will be investigated on suspicion of stealing the craft. The launch burned to the water’s edge and sank.
Gilbert Bettman, chairman of the American Legion legislative committee, told President Harding that the demand for a soldier bonus is based on simple justice and will not be downed.
Frankie Kiolet, winner of The Seattle Star Universal motion picture actress contest, began her screen career at Universal City after weeks at Universal Studio studying acting and makeup. Filming of her first feature role is now underway.

Federal Judge Jeremiah Neterer grants six seamen’s unleas and dismisses the suit brought by District Attorney Robert C. Saunders seeking a permanent injunction against unions and damages at 10 000 daily from May 1. Defendants include Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association Seattle locals and nine individuals from seven unions across Seattle and Pacific coast vessels.
A large Studebaker touring car with Idaho plates was found burned near Seward Park on Lake Washington boulevard. Two men and a woman leapt from the burning vehicle and escaped in a stolen launch. Police seek the car believed stolen. damage about 400 dollars. Residents heard the fire and gas tank explosion and saw the trio flee to the launch.
Amelia Jacob, living behind fire station No. 4, filed a complaint against Moses Jacob on Wednesday morning alleging habitual wife beating. She says he feigns illness and does not work but continually attacks her.
Representatives of the political amnesty league and allies told of President Harding showing sympathy for freeing Eugene V. Debs and other political prisoners. They said he noted no action until after certain events, implying releases would come after the peace proclamation. Gompers and Socialist Party leaders joined the delegation. In Vancouver British Columbia a brush fire menaced the city but was brought under control.
Hal Armstrong writes from Stillaguamish camp above the falls describing a lush riverside idyll. He reports catching a half dozen trout before breakfast, losing four large ones when his willow creel vanished downstream, and notes superb water, scenery, and wildlife along the river.
Police announce a 12 hour roundup netted 14 men tied to a planned scheme to free Ed Spud Murphy from San Quentin. The plan involved a bank messenger robbery for 6000 dollars and a taxicab office hold up, with SF gang links and a two time loser providing details to detectives.
