Cincinnati soap maker J F Jergens owner of Eastwan Perfumery tours Seattle criticizes the city as absurd yet praises its spirit and prospects. Edward Rudolph Plour, an 83 year old Klondiker, disappeared from the Stevens hotel after not being seen yesterday. Police note he suffers epilepsy and describe him as 6 feet tall, stout, dark complexion with black hair and a glass eye.
Sheriff Wells of Skagit County reports two valuable saddles stolen from Mount Vernon last Monday. Police were told the thief fled toward Seattle and may attempt to dispose of the saddles in the city.
L. T. Smith of San Prancisco writes Chief Reed requesting information about George Barrett who is believed to reside in this city.

Habeas corpus proceedings for Steve Lyte dominated the morning in Judge Jacobs court. Lyte and his counsel John F. W. Calvert of 208 Fourteenth Avenue North mourns the loss of a valuable stallion and buggy taken from in front of the Washington Rubber store on First Avenue yesterday. He tied the horse to a pole, left briefly, and returned about an hour later to find it missing.
