At a noon meeting of the Democratic State Central committee held at 570 Colman building, it was decided to hold the state convention in Seattle on September 15. The plan provides two delegates at large from each county and one delegate for every 125 votes or fraction thereof, based on George Turner’s 1904 vote total.

The Pacific Coast Steamship steamer Senator sails south from Nome after loading at St Michael last Friday. It faced unloading trouble with the Longshoremen's Union in Nome, but officials know little of the resolution. The Senator plans three Nome trips this season and will depart for the north again after arrival. Chester Thompson pleads not guilty to murder in the first degree and is arraigned before Judge Frater. His father Will H. Thompson and brother Maurice accompany him. the defense, likely Will H Morris and Silas M Shipley, is not publicly announced. The judge allows a demurrer option within a week. Mrs. Thompson remains unaware and is described as deteriorating.
July 16 Salvadorean troops repelled Guatemalan forces at Platanar with 2000 casualties including killed wounded and prisoners. Honduras repulsed Guatemalan invasion via Santa Fe and joined El Salvador in seeking peaceful settlement offered by the U.S. government.

Five men are dead and twenty injured after an explosion at the Atlantic Dynamite company plant seven miles from Ashland Wisconsin. Among the deceased are J. L. Pierce and William Wallace. Eighteen buildings were razed and several injuries are expected to be fatal.
Salisbury England July 16 The coroner s jury investigating the American Line wreck returned a verdict that the disaster was caused by excessive speed.
P J Douglas a Kin near Park street car conductor charged that Johnny Reid and Tom Corbett two prize fight promoters assaulted him Saturday night. Detective Kennedy arrested Reid and Corbett on a warrant and they were released on $50 cash bonds each.
The cool weather and new sprinkling regulation raised reservoir levels today. By 6 am six feet in the upper and three feet in the lower reservoir, rising further by noon with limited sprinkling hours. Officials warn hot weather could trigger a famine condition in three days.
In Chicago on July 16 a safe was blown open inside the Firmenich building, a skyscraper. Robbers entered multiple offices and stole about $2,000 in cash, narrowly escaping. The Bricklayers union headquarters were among the robbed rooms, following a $1,000 heist there earlier.
J Campbell international secretary of the Shingle Weavers' Union said the union will continue efforts to win union coverage on shingles. They plan to recruit other labor groups to refuse non-union shingles as mill owners sign agreements to uphold the closed shop at Bullard and Ballard. Non union crews operate in some mills while others run union crews.
Elmer Helm age 20 was convicted of murdering W. J. Hayes and his wife in Fresno. Judge Church sentenced him to hang this morning and he shows no emotion. Helm plans to appeal. His brother Willie faces trial for the same crime and Elmer may face a second murder charge.
One hundred pounds of opium were seized by customs inspectors on the south bound Great Northern train. T Morton was arrested with a valise and trunk full of the drug. His bail was 2500 dollars. he could not pay and went to jail. L Dille, before Justice Gordon on July 6, charged with accepting stolen goods from minors, was released this morning. Evidence showed Dille led a gang stealing from foundries.
July 16 report from Pittsburg describes two boys drowning at a public bath area after being washed into deep water by a passing steamer. Authorities have since guarded the baths and opened an inquiry into the accident.
